Harrison faced multiple challenges as he learned to navigate his difficult nervous system disorder. Through it all he never lost his smile and his excitement for life! When Harrison was introduced to Make-A-Wish® he knew right away what he would wish for and he said something as unique and special as him… “I want to make a wish in a volcano!”

“I have never seen him so excited for something!” said Sarah, Harrison’s mom. The family was off on an epic Hawaiian adventure. Throughout the week the family enjoyed time together swimming with dolphins and snorkeling in the crystal-clear water, taking surf lessons, going on a private coffee tour, walking on lava rocks and black sand beaches and, the moment everyone was waiting for, climbing to the top of a volcano to make a wish!

As he reached the top and took in the view of the volcanic rock and endless sky, Harrison took a moment for himself to take it all in. He turned and faced the smokey background saying to his mom “I can’t believe this is actually happening! I guess I’m going to start wishing for something?” He turned to face the volcano, bowed his head, and thought very carefully about what his wish would be. When ready, he threw his arms open and released his wish into the volcano as tears filled his eyes.

“This was the trip of a lifetime,” said Sarah, “we are constantly pinching ourselves. I cannot begin to
describe how it feels as a mom to see the pure joy in your child(ren). To experience these once in a
lifetime opportunities. To have non-stop family time for a full week. No medical appts, no things to
deal with. Just to enjoy each other.”
